Spoiler!

It's deadline day, but I'm still waiting on a final handful of pictures at a higher resolution and am in no terrible hurry.
At the moment we're at a few but respectable twenty pages.

Many of the volunteers from the beginning sent me a Flickr account link and told me to go to town, which I would have loved to do, but I cannot use the images at resolutions to be found on the internet if we want a project of any quality to come of them.

If you or a loved one are one of those who thought you contributed and yet do not see yourself listed, please give me a holla' at kanirakoba at gmail dot com so we can talk 300dpi.

20 pages is small but respectable, however, so we're going to the printers as soon as my final people check in. One of them has the full resolution for the image on the cover, so she's a tad important.

Which brings up a second point. I wanted to purchase the maiden copy myself so I could give it a look through for errors to be fixed before it's released publicly, but because of where I'm located Blurb takes about 2~3 weeks to get anything to me. Wrong side of the planet, apparently.

For those featured and/or those intending to purchase, does the wait outweigh the risk?
I swear I will just die if it's released and someone's name is spelled wrong.

Thanks all!

I finished my first project with polymer clay today. It's a bit amateurish, but I think it ultimately came out OK.

Striped Polonaise

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
A couple of weeks ago, I asked for help putting together a steampunk outfit for a Halloween costume. I didn't have much time/money to do too many additions, but I think it turned out okay anyway. Today, some friends of mine and myself got together for a photo shoot at a local college campus. I thought you might be interested in seeing the finished product, though I do apologize that I'm not necessarily the best model.

Fairly large pictures behind the cut. )
Thanks for looking and let me know what you think!

My New Winter Skirt

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I finished my new patch-work winter skirt. I'm thinking maybe I'll be Cinderella with some clockwork mice that do all my work.

I want an under-bust corset to go with it, but that will have to wait until all the gift giving holidays are over.
The newest outfit for my daughter, for a steamy zoo expedition tomorrow:

On Safari

The skirt is made from the same pattern I used to make her red and black outfit for SteamCon. The vest was made from Simplicity 2484. The boots and shirt are from Target, although I tea-dyed the shirt from its original white cotton state.

This was the "test run" of the outfit, to make sure the pieces were coming together. Once we knew everything fit and worked with each other, I added some antique mother of pearl buttons to the vest, and some lace to the collar and cuffs of the shirt, but it got too dark for another picture.

Tunisian Crochet Jacket

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
For those of you who crochet, and know how to do Tunisian crochet, the newest issue of Inside Crochet (issue 5) has a pattern for a very lovely jacket. I beleive this magazine is a UK publication, but I know I can find it (albeit late) in my local book store here in Ontario. This looks like it may well be worth the import price.

Pictures of the jacket can be found here on the Designers blog:

http://loopdedoo.blogspot.com/2009/11/drummer-girl.html

I love the look of Tunisian crochet, it just takes me forever to do it. Not a speedy project but quite possibly worth the effort. :0)

Oh man, I hope I'm not spamming this place. ^^"
Anyway, my brother and his wife gave me a tiny steampunk tophat for my birthday and I just couldn't resist and had to camwhore a little.

Introducing Steampunk Elegance! Sterling silver, fine gemstones, artisan lampwork beads, and the most stunningly engraved pocket watches I've ever seen. The balance wheels on these pendants spin quite freely. :-)

If you are in Seattle, you can see more of my work at the Gossamer Collective Art Gallery.

It's been some time since I posted here, so I figured I should submit an update. In addition to the fine quality corrupted antique sculptural art jewelry I have been bringing to you, I am now offering up $10 art prints, a great way to spice up your walls with something unique or creepy, but hopefully pleasing to your inner scrabblings just the same...

Thank you for your time and attention and I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Sincerely,
Molly Friedrich

So we've been sponsoring Dr. Sketchy's LA Roadshow for afew weeks now with the models outfitted in our wares:

How'd you like to plunder her ship? Like to see what's below deck? Okay, I'll stop now.

Anyway.... Dr. Sketchy's is in our very own port tonight, Burbank, California and I'd love to see you all there! It's at Wax Poetic Gallery and Salon on Magnolia Blvd. Just a $10 donation at the door and it goes from 7:30-10pm to draw, paint and sculpt lovely art models like the one above. Not to spoil it for you, but she doesn't wear those clothes the whole time *gasp*!

We also have new, one of a kind jewelry in the shoppe, including those made by an 11 year old for her college fund! No kidding! I watched the whole thing and didn't help one bit. Okay she's my podling, but I think it's great she's taking a pro-active approach to ensuring her future education.

A reminder that Solstice is coming up fast and that means two things:

1. you have gifts to buy, and even a little something for yourself

2. we're going to run out of the items you've had your eyes on for awhile now. You should order them now. We're not having any sales to hold out for.

I hope to see some of you steamers tonight! No idea what I'm wearing but I'll be there!

Sorry if you've seen this before but it's too good to not post again.

Someone built their home theater to have a 10,000 Leagues Under the Sea theme. It looks INCREDIBLE!

You can see more about the home theater here.
Someone was asking about steampunk boots on here a week back, but I couldn't find the URL for the boot manufacturer at that time. I dug through my bookmarks and located them:

One of my favorite places to drool over boots I wish I could afford is Motorcowboy.com - check out their Cavalry, Jedi and Motorcycle Officer boots. They are a very pricy store, but they make some of the best looking boots out there. All of their boots are handmade for your foot, so they are 100% custom.

The second place was stomperboots.com, especially their 32 inch long engineer boots. Not nearly as pricy as motorcowboy, and very nice stuff.

And of course, I always recommend Red Wing Shoes for great boots and shoes for under $130.

Enjoy!

Update on the Theft.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm afraid there is not much to tell so far. Some people have asked if there are any leads and such but regrettably there has been no word. I do still truly want to thank you all for you concern. I managed to make a new piece as a replacement and get it to the museum on time for opening. The Oxford Steampunk Exhibit has been incredibly  successful and I hope all of you get a chance to see it.
